BOOK BINDING OPTIONS
We are equipped with state-of-the-art finishing equipment, enabling us to offer a wide variety of book binding options.
Perfect Bound
Perfect binding is an adhesive based binding that does not involve any stitching. One of the most common binding method for paperbacks. Perfect bound books with glue binding do not have layflat capabilities.
Hardcover Casebound
Case binding provides an elegant look with more durability than a perfect bound book. On request, pages can be sewn bound which allows the pages to lay flat, without having a gutter in between the 2 page spreads.
Saddle Stitching
Folded sheets are gathered together one inside the other and then stapled through the fold line with wire staples.
Wire-O-Bound
Metal wire-o-bound provides a professional look and allows the book to lay completely flat or even fold back on itself, unlike other binding methods.
OTHER BOOK BINDING & FINISHING
Board Book Binding
Extra thick cardboards are mounted together and usually finished with round corners. Pages are be able to layflat seamlessly. Page thickness comes in the regular 1mm thickness or the extra thick of 1.5mm thickness.Â
Thread Stitch Binding
We offer different types of thread stitch bindings. Perfect for a traditional looking finish. A simple line of sewing holds the pages together so the finished book is secure & stylish.
Ota-Bind
Another method that allows softcover book or paperback to layflat besides Smyth sewn. It prevents stress on the spine and reduces the cracking that occurs during use.
Layflat
The book will lay flat on the table, allowing you to press down on the pages without breaking the spine and open the book 180 degrees. Layflat bindings include Smyth Sewn, Coil/Wire-O binding, Saddle Stitching, Board Book binding, Thread Stitch binding and Ota-Bind etc.
Head & Tail Bands
The little pieces of colored cloth attached to the top and bottom of the spine of hardcover books.
Smyth Sewn
The signatures of the book are folded and stitched through the fold. The signatures are then sewn and glued together at the spine to form a text block and allows to open flat without damaging the spine. One of the most common layflat binding ideal for having an image across a double page spread.
